Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is an innovative, evidence-based brain training approach that helps the brain learn healthier patterns of activity. By training the brain to regulate itself more effectively, neurofeedback can support improvements in focus, emotional regulation, stress response, and overall mental well-being.
Many individuals experience challenges with concentration, emotional balance, sleep, or managing everyday stress. Neurofeedback works with the brain’s natural ability to adapt and change, helping strengthen the brain’s capacity for balance, flexibility, and resilience over time.
At The Well, neurofeedback is offered as a supportive tool within a broader treatment plan and can be incorporated into individual counseling sessions when appropriate. Our clinicians may use neurofeedback alongside other therapeutic approaches to help individuals build skills that support long-term wellness and recovery.
What Neurofeedback Can Help With
Neurofeedback training focuses on strengthening functional skills that support daily life. Individuals may use neurofeedback to help improve areas such as:
- Focus and attention
- Emotional regulation
- Stress management
- Sleep quality
- Mental clarity
- Cognitive flexibility
- Overall brain regulation and balance
Because every brain is different, neurofeedback training is tailored to each person’s needs and goals.
What to Expect During a Session
During a neurofeedback session, small sensors are placed on the scalp to measure brain activity. These sensors only monitor brain signals—they do not send any electrical stimulation to the brain.
While brain activity is being monitored, the client watches a screen or engages with simple visual or audio feedback. When the brain begins to move toward healthier patterns of activity, the feedback responds in real time. This process helps the brain gradually learn and reinforce more balanced functioning.
Sessions are comfortable and non-invasive, and many people describe them as relaxing. Over time, repeated sessions allow the brain to practice and strengthen healthier patterns of activity, supporting improvements in focus, regulation, sleep, and overall well-being.
