Our Code of Ethics

Every recovery journey is different, so The Well offers a wide spectrum of care options with a common thread—the ethical standards prescribed by these organizations we respect:

Code of Ethics: NAADAC/NCC AP: The National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) is a professional association of more than 100,000 addiction counselors, educators, and other addiction-focused health care professionals. The National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals, or NCC AP, is the autonomous portion of NAADAC responsible for setting standards, testing, and certifying addiction professionals. Their joint Ethical Standards statement is considered a benchmark of professional conduct in recovery. Along with the SHRM Standards below, it is the basis for the ethical standards we follow at The Well.

Code of Ethics: SHRM: The Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) is a leading organization for human resource professionals. Known as “The Voice of All Things Work,” SHRM is a recognized authority on treating people with fairness, compassion, confidentiality, and respect. The SHRM Code of Ethics is considered a model to follow, and along with the NAADAC/NCC AP standards, is the basis for the ethical standards we follow at The Well.

Our Peer Support Specialists are certified by the State of Nebraska and follow the CPSS Program’s Code of Ethics.

Code of Ethics: CPSS: Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS) are people trained to use their own lived experience with mental health and/or substance use disorders to mentor others. Many of these trained, committed people are part of the experience here at The Well. Their Code of Ethics provides a strong framework for helping them make a transformational difference in the lives of others while achieving their own recovery needs, wants, and goals. At all times, they provide an objective and professional relationship while recognizing there are multiple pathways to recovery.
