Tommy Newcombe – MPA, CPSS

he/him

Assistance Director of Residential Services

Tommy Newcombe brings a wealth of experience in peer support, advocacy, and community leadership to his role at The Well. His background includes serving as a Region 4 Consumer Specialist from 2015 to 2019, founding and leading The Connection Project as executive director from 2019 to 2022, and working as a Region 4 Prevention Coordinator from 2022 to 2024. Through these roles, Tommy has continually focused on elevating voices, reducing stigma, and strengthening systems of support.

Passionate about inclusivity and social justice, Tommy’s work is rooted in his own recovery story. He believes deeply in community as a source of wellness and sees The Well as the ideal place to use his skills and talents to give back. His commitment to peer support and advocacy ensures that people who have been silenced or overlooked—whether through incarceration, addiction, or mental health struggles—find their voices uplifted.

Outside of his professional role, Tommy is supported by his wonderful family: his wife, Tera, their two grown sons, and a lively household of pets, including three cats, a 90-pound pittie mix named Moochie, and Nikki, a super active German Shepard. He loves learning, traveling, and engaging in projects that amplify marginalized voices. With a love for education, he has set two big goals for the near future: earning his PhD in Public Administration within five years and beginning flying lessons to achieve his private pilot’s license.

A fun fact about Tommy is that he was born in Germany while his father was serving in the military. His “fun” photo reflects both his love for education and his biggest supporter, Moochie—both sporting University of Nebraska Omaha shirts, representing where Tommy earned his Master of Public Administration.
