Karmen VanDeWalle, LIMHP, LMHP, MSW
She/Her
Counselor
Karmen VanDeWalle is a Mental Health Counselor at The Well and holds her Master of Social Work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She joined The Well in August of 2025, bringing a wide range of experience from her previous roles with Colegrove Counseling, East Central District Health Department, Goodwill Industries Behavioral Health Program, Legal Aid of Nebraska, and as the Executive Director of Big Pals–Little Pals of Greater Columbus.
Throughout her career, Karmen has also been deeply involved in her community, volunteering and serving on boards for organizations such as Center for Survivors, Community Family Partnership, CASA, the Genoa Rescue Squad, and the Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce. This community connection plays an important role in how she approaches her work, both in and outside of the therapy space.
Karmen’s passion for this work is rooted in both personal and professional experiences that have shown her the impact of trauma, loss, and major life transitions, as well as the power of healing when people feel truly seen and supported. She strives to create a space where individuals can show up as they are, without pressure to have everything figured out, and begin to build insight, learn skills, and process their experiences without judgment. She is especially passionate about supporting individuals in emotional regulation, relationships, and recovery, and believes strongly in expanding mental health education and prevention efforts within the community.
Outside of her work as a therapist, Karmen enjoys spending time with her wife and family and staying actively involved in her community. She is also a foster parent, which has deepened her understanding of the importance of patience, flexibility, and creating a sense of safety and connection. You may also see her therapy dogs—Carl, Roxy, and Ellie—around the office or in sessions, helping create a welcoming and supportive environment for clients.
