Hanna Samson, LIMHP

She/Her

Counselor

Hanna Samson, LIMHP, is an Outpatient Therapist at The Well. She earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from South Dakota State University and is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR. She is also currently working toward her PLADC to continue expanding her knowledge and ability to support individuals experiencing substance use concerns.

Hanna takes a person-centered approach to therapy and believes each client is the expert in their own life. She works to create a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, accepted, and supported. Depending on each person’s needs, she may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, trauma-informed therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, EMDR, play therapy-informed interventions, and sand tray therapy.

Whether someone is navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, substance use concerns, or personal growth, Hanna strives to meet them where they are and move at a pace that feels right for them. She enjoys working at The Well because its values of being grounded in hope, showing up with generosity, checking the ego, and embracing diversity closely reflect her own values as a therapist.

Hanna has known she wanted to become a therapist since she was around 11 or 12 years old. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, going for walks, playing video games, and spending time with her cats, Blue and Sushi. She is also a triplet!
