Meet Donny Larson, The Well’s Executive Director since 2015 Donny brings an array of credentials, including Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), and Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS). With nearly two decades in the behavioral health field, Donny’s journey has seen her serve in a directorial capacity for 11 years, with the last 8 dedicated to her current role. She earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wayne State College in 2012 and later added a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Nebraska, Omaha, in 2023.
Donny’s extensive background encompasses a spectrum of roles, from family support and case management to providing individual and group counseling, crisis response services, and peer support. Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), she specializes in working with individuals that have experienced trauma, those struggling with personality disorders, and individuals and families impacted by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Her unique perspective as a person with lived and living experience with behavioral health disorders grounds her in the compassionate services she provides.
Donny’s ‘why’ in her work aligns with her passion for serving those who serve and creating a supportive, inclusive work environment. At The Well, she finds fulfillment in being part of a team that lights up her soul, emphasizing the privilege of working with an amazing, creative, and brilliant group. Donny’s commitment to The Well’s mission is evident in her belief that constant improvement is necessary, as our clients deserve nothing less. Her favorite aspect of working with The Well is the team’s relentless pursuit of doing better and doing more for the well-being of the individuals and families they serve.
Beyond her professional life, Donny’s personal hobbies include the fine art of napping, indulging in audiobooks, and an affinity for online shoe shopping.
Fun Fact: Donny has been a lifelong vegetarian, much to her dad’s ongoing disappointment. In her second “fun” photo, Donny showcases her love for motorcycle riding, admitting to being a “fair weather rider” in Nebraska but dedicatedly attending the Sturgis rally each year, rain, hail, or blistering heat.
